3 ^he three brothers, Jussa Singh, Main Singh, and
4 Lena Singh, with Jye Sing!), Ghuneeya, remained
5 concealed at one place in the jungle, coming out
6 occasionally to rob travellers. They even went to
7 Umritsir to bathe in the tank, and pillaged the sub-
8 burbs of the city. When attacked by the Shah’s
9 troops, they fired off their matchlocks and fled to the
10 jungles. When Ahmed Shall once more left Lahore
11 for Cabal, and Khwajah Oobeid was left to govern,
12 but without any sufficient force, the whole of the
13 Sikhs took to their old trade of robbing, and crowds The Sikhs
14 of them were to be seen in every part of the Punjab,
15 destroying the villages and building forts. Each
16 sirdar took possession of a city and puvgunnah;
17 the Bhungee Missul seizing Kmanabad, PursurOor,
18 and Gujrat. The Ghuneeya and Ramghureea
19 Missuls took possession of Wittala and Kulanour,.
20 When Khwajah Oobeid came out to attack, tho
21 Goojurwala, he was defeated, leaving his guns and
22 treasure in the hands of the Sikhs. On this occa¬
23 sion, the Ramghureea and Ghuneeya Missuls
24 shared the spoils between them.
25 Some months afterwards, when Ahmed Shah
26 came again to the Punjab and encamped at llhotas,
27 and afterwards at Jkundeeala, the Sikhs fled and
28 concealed themselves in the jungles and mountains.
29 But still they determined to keep possession of the
30 country, when Ahmed Shah departed. On this
31 occasion, the Ramghureea seized on Wittala and
32 Kulanour, with the surrounding country. At Um¬
