Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy of the Lahore Durbar Foundation ("we", "us", "our") describes how and why we collect, store and use information when you visit this site or contact us. If you have questions or concerns, write to us at the address at the end of this page.
1. What information do we collect?
Information you give us. If you ask for early access, we keep your email address; it is encrypted in your browser before it reaches us, and only the Foundation can open it. If you send the Wanted form, we keep what you write there: your name if you give it, your email address, the work you ask for and your note. We do not ask for sensitive information and we take no payments.
Information collected automatically. For each page you open we record the time, the page, the words you searched, the site you came from, the kind of device (phone, tablet or desktop), the width of the screen, the script you read in, and the country, region and city your connection reports, then how long the page was open. We do not store your IP address. It is used for a moment to make a code that changes every day; the code cannot be turned back into an address, and one day's code cannot be linked to the next.
2. How do we process your information?
We use it to run and improve the archive: to see what is read and what brings readers, to answer your requests, to tell you when a service you asked about opens, and to keep the site secure. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not build a profile of you.
3. What legal bases do we rely on?
In the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland we rely on your consent for the session id and for the email address you give us, and on our legitimate interest in knowing how the archive is used for the visit records, which hold no IP address and no lasting identifier. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
4. When and with whom do we share your information?
We do not sell, rent or trade your information. It is held by the service providers that host the site and its database for us, under their own duties of confidentiality, and it may be disclosed where the law requires it.
5. Do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?
We set no cookies and use no advertising or third-party tracking. To tell one visit from another, the site keeps a random session id in the tab; it is deleted when the tab closes. In the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it is kept only if you accept it in the banner. Your browser also holds your own choices on this site: the script you read in, your answer to the banner, and the citations you collect. They stay on your device.
6. Is your information transferred internationally?
Our service providers may store and process information on servers outside your country. Wherever it is processed, it is protected as this policy describes.
7. How long do we keep your information?
Visit records are kept for as long as they help us understand how the archive is read; they hold nothing that identifies you. An email address or a request you sent is kept until it has served its purpose, or until you ask us to delete it.
8. How do we keep your information safe?
We use technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold, among them the encryption of sign-up email addresses and access limited to the Foundation. No transmission over the internet and no storage system can be guaranteed to be fully secure.
9. Do we collect information from minors?
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
10. What are your privacy rights?
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, and to withdraw your consent. To use these rights, write to us. Because visit records carry no name, no IP address and no lasting identifier, we usually cannot tell which of them are yours. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you may also complain to your data protection authority.
11. Controls for Do-Not-Track features
Browsers offer a Do-Not-Track setting. There is no common standard for answering it, so the site does not respond to it. The site does not follow you across other sites in any case.
12. Do we make updates to this policy?
Yes. We will update this policy as needed; the date at the top shows the latest version.
13. How can you contact us about this policy?
