9 the Ramghureea Missul; The siege was carried
10 on for several months, but on the setting in of the
11 rains, it was raised, Dewan Singh, the son of
12 Tara, Singh, possessed a small portion of country
13 bestowed on him by Ms uncle Jussa Singh, where
14 he supported himself by robbing. Jussa' 1 Singh
15 left two sons behind him ; the one named Jodh
16 Singh, and the other Bheer Singh. The former
17 succeeded his father, as head of the Ramghureen
18 Missul. But he was a irian of no activity, and
19 unfit to govern, so that his cousin Dewan Singh
20 made daily inroads on his possessions. At length
21 Runjeet Singh took possession of this Missul, and
22 Jodh Singh became His dependant, and entered the
23 Maharajah’s service. Dewan Singh, leaving the
24 Punjab, went to Benares. Before he returned
25 Jodh Singh had died, and for some time lie and
26 Bheer Singh governed the country, which the
27 Maharajah at length resolved to seize. In 1808,
28 the Maharajah went to Kangra, and on his return
29 me sent for Bheer Singh and Dewan Singh, and
30 imprisoned, them; after which he took possession
31 . of their country. From thence, the Maharajah
32 to(i>k the road to Rubeeia, where he spent the
33 nig! it, and then proceeded to Umritsir, where he
34 besieged the fort of Ram Rouree, or Kamghur, with
35 his artillery. The siege continued for a whole
36 day; and during the ensuing night, those in the
