6 Towdree are seeds from Malva sylvestris." Dr. R. Selignuum
7 says Tuderisch (probably the Arab name of Toicdrce) are seeds
8 from Sclarea Horminwm, I am of opinion that the white are
9 what the natives assert them to be. i. e. seeds of Polyanthe*
10 tttberosa ; (lie colored, whctlier yellow, red, or blackish, are the
11 seeds from Malva sylvestris, as stated in the lieng. ITarm.

19 M a M k e ii a. M a m li e n a n— are of two different kinds,
20 in the Lahore ba/aar, the one from Cashmere, the other from
21 China, called Khutai (Scythea). The latter is officinal all over
22 the East, living much used by the Hakims, wlio deem this root
23 to be a specific in ophthalmies; but, they say, that the genuhu
24 drug is seldom to be met with ; and this I believe, is it has
25 many substitutes. (See Chclidonium majus fe Glaucium.)
26 Dr. ltoylc . affirms Ranunculus Jicaia or fiearia to lie the
27 plant from which the Cashmerea'i in a me era is produced.
28 Both sorts are used, in general externally, and in composition
29 with other drugs, are applied to the eyes as a dry collyrium.
