6 Ox ymei. is much used among the natives of Hindustan;
7 both as a cooling draught and refreshing beverage in the hot
8 season, it), fever, thirst, etc. Occasionally, they add to the
9 boiling vinegar and honey, a few leaves of mint, thereby im¬
10 proving- both the flavor and effect. See Vol. 1. p. 1(15
11 Oxy nr a klatior -grows in Cashmere, and is used as an
12 ingredient of the sauce, called c h u t !i e e.
13 Pabi/ik Pabend —in the Punjab and Cash mere, there are
14 different lands of white earths, which are used by the Hindoos,
15 under the name of Pubood, in their religious ceremonies. The
16 genuine, which I got at Lahore, was carbonate of mag tarsia
17 combined with a very small quantity of oxyde of iron. (See
18 Magnesia.) I received an inferior kind in Cashmere, which was
19 a product of the hills; namely, from Amcrnat; this earth, was
20 carbonate of lime and magnesia, with very little oxyde of.iron.

32 antisyphilitic ; lately, it has been recommended against drbpsv.
33 being a tonic and diuretic, which diminishes the inflam matron
34 irritability, and mucous secretion from the bladder.
