12 have been recommended in protracted labor. Oil of turpentine
13 has been used in hanuorrhages, phthisis, bronchial catarrh,
14 typhus, plague, obstructions, hernia incarcerata, tympanitis, lead-
15 Colit. biliary calculi, tetanus traumatic us, t rismus, apoplexia,
16 hydrocephalus, diabetes, rheumatism, dropsy, cholera, ophthal¬
17 mia, hydatids, retensioii of mine, scalds, salivation, poisonings by
18 hydrocyanic acid or opium, hooping-cough, neuralgia, epilepsy,
19 ...sciatica. etc..; pseudemulsion prepared with mint water in
20 atonic ulcers; vapors in rheumatism; externally applied, as a
21 styptic. The spontaneous evaporation of oil or spirit of tur¬
22 pentine exposed in an open vessel in r room, causes the urine
23 of those inhaling it to smell like violets, as if it had been
24 taken internally. in Epidemics as well as in the various
25 diseases mentioned, a -trial might be made by putting in a cup
26 or saucer some spirit of turpentine and placing it in the room
27 of the patient.
