9 Tkagacanttium -is officinal at Lahore; the Hakims use
10 tragacanth in pectoral affe< dons, as cough, etc.; also in ulcera¬
11 tion of the urinary bladder; it is sometimes injurious to the
12 bladder; and they suppose its frequent use produces fat
13 ness.
14 Thava uisi’INOsa. T-ribulus aquaticus —vegetates at Lahore
15 and Cashmere, and is a nutritious amylaceous substance, which
16 afford® a considerable revenue, principally to the Caslunerean
17 government. The waternuts are boiled, and so sold, in the
18 bazaars. A poultice of Trapa nutans is recommended to
19 resolve indolent tumors (probably Trapa blspinosa would servo
20 the same end).
21 Tiua-nthewum i*extan»rium —grows at Lahore; there are
22 two bpecies, one is the white-stalked, the other the black. I ac¬
23 cordingly follow'the natives in describing it as Trianthemum
24 album $ nigrum.
