8 *Fu mama 1 ’arvifi.oha— grows among the corn in tin- Punjab,
9 as well as in the lower range of the lulls. This plant is officinal
10 in the East* and is kept, like the fumitories in Europe, in a dried
11 state. The Hakims, like European physicians, employ it in
12 cutaneous diseases, internally and externally.

15 Agaricus querci— is procurable in Cashmere ; where the Jerahs
16 use its tinder {agaric) as in Europe, to stop bleeding from recent
17 wounds.

20 Gage* wing— is the bulbous root of a Caslunerean bill-
21 plant. which is unknown to me. The meaning of the mime gi v-en
22 to this root is, in the Cashmerean language, mouse-brain ( gager
23 mouse and ming brain); it is somewhat like a dried little pear,
24 but. does not seem to bo officinal, as I could not procure any
25 from the Druggists in Cashmere. The man from whom 1
26 received a few roots, at Lahore, being absent., I could not learn
27 whence lie had them. As 1 discovered many interesting results
28 from my administration of this medicine, I hope, on returning
29 to that country, to be able to ascertain what it is. From the
30 specimen I brought with me, European Botanists have failed in
31 determining its derivation.
