7 its few towns, being proverbially compared, on this account, to

9 SEZKOH, a village situate to the north of Bultistan, at bane oo of
10 the northern entrance of the valley of Shighur, in lat. 35° 40’, water.
11 long. 75°19’. ;
12 SHADABAD, in the north of the Punjab, and on the route Vigno, Kashmir,
13 from Lahore to Kashmir, by Rajawur, a spacious and magnificent a
14 Caravanserai, built by one of the Mogul emperors. It is a rect-
15 angular structure, uncovered in the middle. The walls are
16 hearly twenty feet thick, and contain cavities close to each other,
17 and at regular intervals. ‘These cavities, or deep niches, as they
18 may be termed, open into the uncovered space in the middle, and
19 are the apartments for the accommodation of travellers. Lat.

23 It is situate in a barren tract, nearly destitute of population, and yay ao
24 described by Kennedy as “ more like the bedofasaltlagoon,inan
25 interval of spring tides, than an inland district.” To the north-
26 west stretches the dreary tract called the Pat, or desert, of Shikar-
27 poor, noticed by the same writer as ‘‘a boundless level plain
28 of indurated clay of a dull earthen colour, and shewing signs of
29 being sometimes under water. At first a few bushes were appa-
30 rent here and there, growing gradually more and more distant,
