13 and two and a half feet thick, with a terreplain four feet broad.
14 On the north side they are in many places perforated with can-
15 non-balls discharged during the siege carried on by the first Khan
16 of Bhawlpoor. The place is half a furlong square, with nume-
17 rous bastions, and an outwork on the east side to cover the
18 entrance. A mosque conspicuously surmounts the gateway, and
19 a little to the north is a Mahometan tomb, with a cupola pro-
20 fusely ornamented with coloured glazed tiles. There is a large
21 tank outside the walls, and within are several wells containing
22 abundance of good water at the depth of fifty-eight cubits.

24 MOKULMUSSEED, in the Punjab, a village situate fifteen
25 miles south-east of the city of Mooltan. Lat. 30° 3’, long.

27 MONSUR,! in the Punjab, a small town near the east or left
28 bank of the Indus and the northern frontier of the Sikh domi-
29 nion. It is a poor place, with a weak and rudely built fort.
30 Vigne? mentions it by the name of Mansa. Lat. 34° 14’, long.

32 MONZE CAPE, or RAS MOOAREE, a sharply projecting
33 headland, forming the western extremity of the coast of Sinde, is
34 the termination seawards of the high lands known in different
35 parts by the names of the Hala, Brahooic, and Pubb mountains.
36 Pottinger! states that “it springs abruptly to a conspicuous
37 height and grandeur out of the sea,’ but Horsburgh? describes
38 it as of moderate height, and in this he is borne out by the out-
39 line given in Dalrymple’s charts of the coast of Sinde. On the
40 north-west of it is the island of Chilney, or Churna, the channel
41 of separation being four miles wide, and six or seven fathoms

44 miles from the left bank of the Ghara river, and thirty miles
45 north-east of Khyrpoor. Lat. 29° 45’, long. 72° 33’.

47 of Ghuznee, on the road from thence to Kandahar. Lat. 33°
