10 The Mayo Mines at Khewra were being inspected by Mr, Inspection of the Mayo
11 Grundy, the Inspector of Mines in India, when the year closed, H8.0S. or year ed?
12 Mr. Money, Superintendent in charge of the Mines, and India
13 of all the works on the surface connected with the Mines, dis-
14 charged his important duties efficiently and satisfactorily
15 throughout the year.

33 review was maunds 5,48,586, maunds 18,82,229 were excavated,
34 the quantity issued during the year was maunds 19,40,640, and
35 the balance in store at the close of the year was maunds 4,90,175
36 in addition to which maunds 93,132 were lying in the Warthganj
37 Depét, suld, but not issued, and awaiting weighment and clear-
38 ance.

48 The yield in weight per 100 cubic feet was maintained dur-
49 ing the year at 135 maunds, as it has been now for many years
50 past, and the cost per 100 maunds, at the rate of 104 pies
51 per cubic foot excavated, therefore remained uniform through-
52 out the year, and amounted to Rs, 4-0-9'78. The miners
53 are reported to be well satisfied with this rate of payment. It
54 will be remembered that, as stated in last year’s annual report, the
55 rate paid previous to February 1895 was 84 pies per cubic foot,
56 and that the men were-with good cause discontented. with this
57 rate, which was therefore, after due enquiry, increased.
