REPORT ON THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE NORTHERN INDIA
REVIEW BY SECTIONS. These items were partly counterbalanced by a decrease (1) of
INTERNAL BRANCH. ks. 1,773 under travelling allowance owing to Assistant Com-
‘missioners having gone on tour later than usual during the

circles for certain periods, and to fewer transfers of establish-
ment, and (2) of Rs. 286 underminor heads of contingencies.
The net revenue of the Internal Branch for the year under
report amounted to Rs. 86,396 compared with Rs. 90,101 in
1895-96, or a decrease of Rs. 3,705, due to a slight falling off
in the revenue derived from license fees and from fees realized
on the clearance of sitta (impure salt).
