_ registered by the Department at the time of issue of the salt,
49. British Baluchistén.—1,880 maunds of Panjab rock
salt were imported into the Quetta district during the year,
compared with 883 maunds during 1897-98. Figures showing
the imports of Sindh salt into this area during the year under
report are not available; but there were no such imports
during 1897-98, and only 550 maunds were imported in 1896-97,
The consumption of salt bearing the full rate of duty in
this Province is therefore very small. Salt made in Kalat is,
it is understood, admitted into British Baluchistdn. at a reduced
rate of duty of Rs, 1-8-0 a maund, and the proceeds are credited
as special revenue. The realizations of 1897-98 were as

in parts of the province without restriction and without
payment of duty ; though-a special establishment is entertained,
under the orders of the Government of India, to suppress this
manufacture in the adjoining Panjab district of Dera Ghazi
