31 cordance with the recommendation of the Finance Committee, the source.
32 Falodi salt source was closed as an open salt source for the
33 manufacture and the sate of duty-paid salt on the Ist of De-
34 cember 1892. It remains open for the sale of duty-free salt
35 to the Jodhpur Durbar for the present in order that the stock
36 of salt in hand, or such of it as is saleable, may. be cleared off.
37 The balang of salt in stock on the 1st of April 1893 was © stoeks and issues
38 maunds 1,29,601, and an excess of maunds 6,438 was found in
39 a heap cleared during the year. The issues during the year
40 amounted to maunds 15,000. The balance of stock at the
41 close of the year was maunds 1,21,039. Until the stock is
42 disposed of, the establishment retained consists of an inspector,
43 one jamadar and six peons only. The sale price realized from
44 the 15,000 maunds of salt sold came to Rs. 2,813. The fixed
45 charges amounted to Rs. 1,098 and the contingencies to
46 Rs. 6,575. This latteramountis so large because (1) Rs. 511
47 were paid under the head of manufacture to Kharwals on account
48 of the price of salt discovered in excess in the heap which
49 was Cleared during the year ; (2) Rs. 4,534 were paid as com-
50 ensation to Kharwals for the closing of the source under
51 Article IV of the Jodhpur Salt Agreement; and (3) Rs. 1,158
52 were paid as half duty to the Bikanir Durbar under Article VIT,
53 of the Bikanir Salt agreement. This salt was issued in 1892-93,
54 but the payment was made through the Comptroller of India
55 Treasuries during the year under report. The ordinary con-
56 nue aes of the salt souree for the year only amounted to
