4 A Qasid, who arrived with friendly letters on
5 the part of Mir Alam Khan of Bajour, was
6 dismissed with a reply, desiring that chief to
7 depute his son to pay his respects to the Shah
8 Zada on his arrival at Peshawr. By the same
9 opportunity, and in consultation with the prince,
10 a letter was likewise written to Sadat Khan,
11 the chief of the Momand tribe, inviting him
12 to tender his allegiance to the Shah Zada,
13 either in person, or by deputing his son.
14 It ought not to be omitted that a Qasid had
15 arrived in our camp at Jehlam, who professed
16 to have been sent by Hafizji, a person possess-
17 ing great religious influence in Kabul and thé
18 Kohistan, where he was said to be engaged by
19 Dost Mahomed Khan in exciting the people
20 to a religious war against the Shah. He

22 although he and others were forced by cireum~
