2 his visit, and was directed to attend him on
3 his return to the left bank of the Satledge.
4 In the evening of the same day the Shah
5 - Zada visited his Lordship to take leave. He
6 was received with the honour due to his rank,
7 and after receiving some words of good advice
8 for his future guidance, the prince was dis-
9 missed with suitable presents He is a well
10 disposed young man, and seems entirely at-
11 tached to the English.*
12 From the Ist to the 12th of January, 1839,
13 the. time was employed in collecting the per-
14 sonal escort intended (agreeably to the treaty
15 between the British Government, Shah Shuja-
16 ul-Mulk, and Ranjeet Singh) to accompany
17 the Shah Zada from the Sikh government,
18 and in providing him with his marching
19 equipage and other necessary establishments
20 for his approaching journey. In the meantime
21 the camp was removed to the ghat or ferry
22 on the Ravi, and pitched in the order in which
23 it was hereafter to encamp.
