25 Besides the above, there are Schools of a ‘superior kind, established,
26 either by Government, or under Government auspices, at Umballa, Fe-
27 rozepore, Simla, Jullunder, Hooshyarpore, Kangra, Umritsur, Sealkote,
28 Goojrat., Jhelum, Rawul Pindee, Shahpore. There are also some thirty-
29 five Schools scattered about in the interior of Districts. The largest of
30 the Government Schools is that of Umritsur, which
31 is endowed by a Grant of Rupees 5,000 or £500
32 a@ year, and a yearly contribution of Rupees 500, or £50 per annum from
33 Maha Rajah Dhuleep Singh, and has about 500 pupils, some of whom
34 learn the English language and European science. It was explained in
35 the last Report, that there aré good Missionary Schools at Lahore,
36 Umritsus, Peshawur, Loodianah, Umballa, Jullunder, Kangra, and
37 * Exclusive of the Goojranwalla and Goordaspore Districts.
