12 This number, already considerable, will, it is hoped, increase year by
13 year. The number of letters for the District Dawks has been given,
14 because they pertain to the Civil Department.
15 112. The construction and repair of Postal Buildings, Post Offices
16 and Staging Bungalows, for accommodation of travellers, erected at
17 nearly every station, or at convenient intervals between stations, are
18 chiefly executed by the Department of Public Works. There are in these
19 Territories 58 Post Offices and 56 Staging Bungalows.
20 113. The Revenues and Charges of the Post Office Department can be
21 best elucidated by the Director General. They are however included
22 numerically in the Finance Section and Statements.

25 114, The’Electric Telegraph will doubtless be fully reported on by
26 the Chief Superintendent of the Department.
27 In accordance with the Government instructions,
28 it will only be necessary to note such facts as may be decidedly of public
29 importance. .
30 115. The construction of the supports of the Line was entrusted to the
31 Construction of the Department Public Works in subordination to the
32 Line. Local Administration. This work was commenced
