45. Four hundred and fifty-eight sil logs, containing 20,936 cubic feet, were
carted from tho forest dep6t at Mohahn to the regular dopét at Ramnugger, distance 12
miles; and 1,118 s&l logs, containing 59,348 cubic feet, were carted from the Doorga-
deb forest to the Mohaln Depot, distance about 8 miles; 118 logs still remain in
the Dooragadeh forest; 21,852 sil sleepers, containing over 29,000 cubic feet, were
prepared for the Rajpootana State Railway, of which 21,548 were accepted as first
class by the Railway Officer sent to inspect thom; 34,835 s&l kurrees, containing
ubout 66,944 cubic feat, were prepared to supply the regular market demand: these
will in all probability be sold next winter.
The sleepers and kurrecs were prepared in forests near Mohahn on the Koseo
River, from which all trees suitable for logs had been cut and removed in former years;
they were sawn from treos growing eithor at very high elevations or in rugged situa-
tions,—in fact, from trees that were in such awkward positions that they could not be
got out in log.
From the Ramnugger Depét 500 sl logs were sold to the Oudh and Rohilkhund
Railway,—300 within the financial year 1871-72, and 200 in the current year.

46. One hundred and seventy-one sil logs which wero cut in 1869-70 wore carted
from the Seemulchour For Deestpdt (Kotree Doon) to tho regular depdt at Sun-
naye, distance 7 miles. There are still 97 logs at Seemulchour which are too big to
cart out, as the road to Sunnayo is very stecp in some parts ; these will have to be con-
verted into scantlings. 24,758 sil sleepers, containing about 33,000 cubic fact, wero
prepared for the Oudh and Rohilkhund Railway, of which 24,648 wero inspected by a
Railway Officer, and 23,993 accepted as first class, 10,047 sMl kurrees, containing
about 11,400 cubic feet, were preparcd to moet the regular market demand, and will
probably be sold noxt winter.
All these sleepers and kurrees were sawn in the Mundalti forest, which, although
only 12 miles from Sunnaye Depdt, is at such a high clevation and so inaccessible that
it would not pay to work it for logs.
Two hundred and twenty-seven sein (Pentaptera tomentosa) logs of medium quality,
which had been cut by a contractor the previous year, and confiscated on account of
