18. Owing to the Oopaulangyee, Oopaulangalay and Yeytha Tracts fall-
ing within the Western Boundary of the proposed Yoma “ Bloc” of the brome
District, the demarcation of their separate Boundaries has been deemed unne-
cessary.
19. Method of Demarcation. The demarcation of Boundaries was effect-
ed in the manner explained in para 6 of Jast Year’s Administration Report, with
the exception that additional Boundary marks were affixed at all the salient
points and bends in the Boundaries.
20. Cost of Demarcation. The expenditure incurred in this work was as
follows :—
Prome Division ... ... « Re. 62-11-8 or 15- 4 9 per mile.
Tharrawaddioe Division... me » 195- 5-0 or 12-15- 2 per mile.
Salweon e ee sey » 578-11-0 or 53 6-10 per mile.
The difference in cost is attributable to the greater or less density of the
overerowth cleared, the number of sinuosities in the boundary lines and dis-
tance to which the boundary marks had to be transported.
21. Renewal of Boundary Marks. The boundary marks of all the Tracts
finally demarcated last year in the Tharrawaddie Division have been examined
and 43 marks renewed—177 additional marks painted A1, A 2, etc, to distinguish
them from old marks, have also been affixed at the salient points in the lines
where further delineation appeared necessary.
The cost of this operation together with that of clearing the lines of over-
growth in places amounted to Rs. 196-15-6 or about Rs. 2-3 per mile.
As natural boundarics have been, wherever possible, selected for the Tracts
more recently proposed for demarcation, no great increase of expenditure under
this head is to be anticipated.
9, REQUIREMENTS OF THE SURROUNDING PopuLATION. Prescriptive RIGHTs.
92. The onforcement of Rule XIII, Forest Rules, for the maintenance of
Government rights intact, in all the Reserved Tracts, after the boundaries, cte,
have heen notified, has been sanctioned by the Local Government, in Hesolu-
tion No. 855, dated 9th April 1872.
The Conservator has also been instructed to frame subsidiary Rules, form
of Permits, and tariff of rates, under which the use of the Forest products may
be —— by the adjacent villagers on payments of the lightest description
possible.
