Compared with that of 1870-71, the nct Revenue of the past year exhibits a
falling off, of Rs. 24,770-1-2, consequent upon increased expenditure under “ B.
Establishment,” etc, and additional outlay under “A. I.,” incurred in the extrac-
tion of superior timber indented for by the Public Works Department. The inf
crease in Establishment was to a great extent occasioned by the nomination o-
two additional officers to this Province, one of whom is a Deputy Conservator 1st
vrade.
To the Revenue of the year also, belongs a large sum, about Rs. 62,000, due
for timber delivered to the Public Works Department; but on the other hand, the
Sittang Division has yielded Revenue greatly in excess of the normal figure, ow-
ing to the irregularities on the part of the Permit Holders as noted in para 47.

actual amount to credit of the Department.

The actual surplus therefore, of the year’s operations, amounts to Rs.
5,59,757-6-10.
Compared with that of 1870-71 the surplus here noted exhibits less favor-
vble results by Rs. 30,789-7-5, consequent upon a large proportion of 11. class
timber being on hand, and a decrease of 10 elephants, as noted in para 159,
