30 193. During the year the new system of assessment, on the running fool
31 principle, referred to in para 187 of Administration Report for 1870-71, came
32 fuirly into operation. On reference to Appendix C., it will be seen that the ro-
33 sult was an average increase, per log, of Rs, 1-4-10, on an outturn of 9,993 logs
34 from five Forests in the Sittang Division and one in the Salween Division.
35 194. The following Permits lapsed and wore resold for a period of 3 years
