51. Receipts —Under various heads of receipts, a total increase of Rs. 24,354, and
a total decrease of Rs. 4,413, being a net increase of 19,941.
Increases—Under head I, sale of timber at depdts an increase of Rs. 20,271, owing
to the larger collections and sales of sandalwood, much of it being (asstated in para 43)
old wood brought in. Under head VII Conjfiscated timber, an mcrease of Rs, 4,082.
This item from its nature cannot be estimated with any. degree of certainty. Head V,
grazing dues, rupee one.
52, Decreases,—Head II, sale of wood on license, less by Ks. 1,810. This was check-
ed as much as possible. Under head VI, sale of minor forest products, Rs. 722. This item
is less in all three ranges than the estimates, and I think the cause is not hard to find.
The minor products of the District-forests, identical in kind with those of the State-forests,
but to be found over a far larger area of country, were sold by the Revenue authorities,
those in the State-forests by the Forest Department. ‘Two Departments were thus sel-
ling against each others intorests, and we having the smaller area and our forests as a
rule being farther away from inhabited localities, got the smaller share. I hope that
- sale of all these products by our Department will result in better realizations in
uture.
Under head VIII, fies and forfeitures, » decrease of Rs. 520. This is also an
item difficult to estimate. Undor 1X, miscellancous, Rs. 1,360 less than the estimates.
53. Laxpenditure—Under A, conservancy and working, a total decrease of Rs. 8,550,
increase of Rs. 1,502, shewing a saving of Rs. 7,048. Under B, establishments, decreases
to the amount of Rs. 1,363, and increases to Rs. 399, shewing a total decrease of Rs. 964.
