15I aM desired to acknowledge, with the following remarks by the

16Officiating Resident, your Report on the management and conservancy of

17the Berar Forests during the year 1871-72.

182. The new measures and changes of the year under review are :—

19(1.)—The abandonment as a State Reserve of the Katkali tract, which

20it is thought can be better worked on the system sanctioned for the unre-

21served Forests.

22(2.)—The reduction of four Nakas rendered unnecessary by the with-

23drawal (for the relief of tho hill people who looked on it as a grievance) of

24the duty formerly levied on furest produce imported from the Central Pro-

25viuces.

26(3.)—The exclusion, in accordance with the orders of Government, of

27Pathroat from the list of Stato Reserves.
