5 No. 1458-T., dated the 8th April, 1891.—Whereas His Highness the Maharaja of Jammu and
6 Kashmir hag ceded to the | ritish Govornment full jurisdiction within those lands which lie within
7 his State and are occupied, or may be hereafter vecupied, by the Sialkot-Jammu section of the
8 North-Western Railway system, including the lands occupied by stations, and ont-buildings and
9 for other purposes connected with the said section: In exercise of this jurisdiction, and of the
10 powers conferred by sections 4 and 6 of the Foreign Jurisdiction and Extradition Act, 1879, and of
11 all other powers enabling bim in this behalf, the Governor-General in Council is pleased to issue
12 the following orders :—
13 (1) All laws for the time being in force in the Sialkot District of the Punjab shall be deom-
14 ed in force in the aforesaid lands.
15 (2) The Deputy Commissioner of the Sialkot District, the Commiasioner of the Rawalpind
16 Division, the Financial Commissioners of the Punjab, and the Lieutenant-Giovernor
17 of the Punjab and its Dependencies for the time being, shall respectively have,
18 within the aforesaid Jands, the same executive powers as they may respectively
19 exercise withiu the British territoiies subject to their adininistration.
20 (3) All British Courts having jurisdiction within the Sialkot District may exercise the
21 same jurisdiction within the aforesaid lands.
22 (4) Within the aforesaid lands the administration of the Police shall be vested in the Assist-
23 ant Inspector General of Railway Police or such other officer as the said Lieutenant
24 Governor may appoint by name or in virtue of his office in that behalf. The Assist-
25 ant Inspector General or other officer aforesaid shall have the same Police powers as
26 may be exercised by the District Superintendent of Police under any law for the time
27 being in force in the Sialkot District, in subordination to the Deputy Commissioner
28 of the Sialkot District and the Inspector General of Police in the Punjab.
