9 No. 2, dated the 26th February, 1891.—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 8,
10 sub-section (1), of the Upper Burma Laws Act, 1886, the Chief Commissioner, with the previous
11 sanction of the Governor Generalein Council, ie pleased to extend tohll the Shan States for the
12 time being notified under section 8, subesection (3), of the said Act, the Administrator General's Act,
13 1874, as amended by Acta I of 1879, IX of 1881, and II of 1890.
14 No. 8, dated the 26th February, 1891.—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4,
15 aub-rection (1), clause (e), of the Shan States Act, 1888, the Chief Commissioner, with the previous
16 sanction of the Governor General in Council, is pleased to direct that the jurisdiction, powers, and
17 duties exercined and performed by District Judges under the Administrator General’s Act, 1874, as
18 amended by Acts I of 1879, 1X of 1881, and II of 1890, shall be exercised and performed in
19 Southern Shan States by the Superintendent, Shan States, in the Northern Shan States by the
20 Superintendent, Northern Shan States, and in the State of Momeik by the Deputy Commissioner of
21 the Ruby Mines district, in the State of Wuntho by the Deputy Commissioner of the Katha dise
22 trict, bs | in the States of Kale, Thaungthut, and Zingalein Kanti by the Deputy Commissioner
23 of the Upper Chindwin district.
24 Ip this order the expression “ Northern Shan States ’’ includes the States of Northern and
25 Southern: Theinni, Taungbaing, Thibaw, Mainglén, Maingtén and Thénzé, and the expression
26 “ Se ee aia States” includes all other Shan States east of the Irrawaddy river, except the
27 State of Momeik.

30 No. 152, dated the 5th May 1891.—In exercise of the power conferred by section 422 of the
31 Criminal Procedure Code, 1882, the Chief Commissioner appuints the Superintendent of the Shan
32 States and the Superintendent of the Northern Shan States to be for the Southern Shan States
33 and the Northern Shan States respectively the @ficer to whom the Appellate Court, in cases to
34 which Foreign Department Notification No, 4, dated the 30th May, 1889, (") is applicable, shall
35 cause notice to be given of the time and place at which such appeal will be heard.
