7 When Jhunda Singh was returning from the con¬
8 quest of Mooltan, he took Jliungrealah, and sub¬
9 dued the Beloochee tribes, often, pillaging their
10 country. After this he went to Umritsir, and
11 began building a brick fort, which was named the ®“ iWs ,h ®

14 Previous to this, Hurree had begun a bazaar at
15 Umritsir, but had not finished it. After this,
16 Jhunda Singh made war on Jye Singh, Ghuneeya,
17 and Churruth Singh. It is said that the latter was Jus»a siogi.,
18 killed by the bursting of his gxm; and J hunda Singh mm.
19 Singh by his own soldiers, at the instigation of Jye
20 Singh. Gunda Singh succeeded his uncle Jhunda
21 Singh, and completed the Bhungee fort, at Umrit¬
22 sir. Gunda Singh employed himself in enlarging Gunda Siip
23 the city of Umritsir, and for this purpose collected ?!£&?** Um ~
24 great numbers of workmen.
25 Gunda Singh next proceeded to Pathan Kote, Advances
26 on the following account, A. man named Naud fo^ U rtllwn
27 Singh, a friend of Jhunda Singh, had left this place
28 to the latter. This Nail'd Singh had a daughter,
29 and his widow bestowed the latter and Pathan Kote
30 on Tara Singh Ghuneeya, brother to Hukeekut
31 Singh. When Gunda Singh heard of this trans¬
32 action, he was enraged; and collecting an army,
33 he proceeded to the place, taking the road through
