8 an oath that they would attack them and drive
9 them away; and that wherever a Sikh was found,

19 When the Sikhs were thus attacked and hunted
20 from Every place of abode, they Bed in all direc¬
21 tions, and a portion of them, bolder than the rest,
22 went to Umritsir, and took refuge in the mud fort
