11 the .Tat tribe and a follower of Bunda. Be likewise
12 became a robber on the death of his leader. When
13 he died, a man named Nund Singlj, a Jat and a
14 native of the village of Sahangbee, distant about
15 four miles from Umritsir, succeeded him, lie bad
16 a great number of followers, and among them one
17 named Jussa Singh, and his brothers. Mala Singh
18 and Tara Singh, of the Buhraee or cai’peuter caste,
19 inhabitants of the village of Abehokul, who, giving
20 up their trade, became Sikhs, and joined Nund
21 Singh. Of the three brothers, Jussa Sing was a :
22 particularly brave man, and celebrated for his feats
23 in battle. He was appointed Commander-in-chief
24 of the Ramgbureea Missul. When Adeena Beg
25 Khan fled on account of his enmity to Ahmed
26 Shah, he engaged several Sikhs as his retainers,
27 and among the rest, these three brothers, and they
28 were of the greatest use to him in managing his
29 troops, When Adeena Beg Khan was defeated by
30 Ahmed Shah, and fled to the. hills, the brothers
31 left him, returned to their homes, and afterwards
32 joined Jye Singh, Ghuneeya, who with Ummur
33 Singh and others made war on the Pathans, and
34 concealed themselves in the jungle. In this war¬
35 fare, the brothers were conspicuous . for their
36 bravery. In. the year a.d, 1757 Ahmed Slmh left
37 Lahore; and Adeena Beg Khan returned irojtn the
38 hills, and having conquered Khootub Ghat, the
39 Kohilla, he surrounded the city ofWittalaand took
