6 recorded, that Water-Henbane has produced weakness of vision,
7 tetanus (a spasmodic affection) and, sometimes, proved even fatal.

11 louse; the essence would, probably, correspond in effect.

13 CiKCHoN.f cortex. Chines cprtex. Cortex Peruvianas —the
14 t’eruvian-bark is but little known among the Hakims and Indian
15 doctors of the Punjab, and was not to be Imd in the bazaar at
16 Lahore. Formerly I obtained this bark from Calcutta and
17 Agra (when I used much of it), latterly (when for several years
18 I used but little) 1 managed to get it from the English at Lahore.
19 Cinckon. cort . (1.) Giddiness, Headache. Pain in
20 the bowels. Soreness of the mouth and throat.
21 Swellings (inflammatory oedemntous).
22 CtNcnoNiNUM auLPiiuiticuw. Ckininum sulphurieum.
23 Quince disulphas — the Sulphate of Quinine has been recom¬
24 mended in hooping-cough; it is but little used by the Eastern
25 doctors, v. Vol. I. p. '61.
26 Cinchon. sulph. (II.) Diarrhoea. Fixed rheumatic
27 pains (acute or chronic). Nettle-rash.
28 . CfXivAflAKis—is oflicinal throughout the East, and obtainable
29 in all bazaars.
30 Cinnamomum — is used in the East and in Europe .for both
31 domestic and medicinal purposes. The Hakims administer cin¬
32 namon in cases of debility of the stomach, enlargement of the
33 spleen, a flections of the heart, or nerves ( tonicuni , cordiale , ner-
34 eitmw) pains in the womb It is also recommended in retention
35 «>t urine and of the catamenia, serpent bites, and poisoning
36 with opium.
