4 NAUSHERA.—An extensive caravanserai on the rdute from
5 Lahore to Kashmir, by the Pir Panjal pass. It is built of brick,
6 faced at the gateways with stone, and was originally of such
7 strength as to serve for a fortress as well as a caravanserai, but
8 it is now in a ruinous state. It is situate on the river Tauhi! or | F. von Hugel,-
9 Tihoi,? which, at eight or ten miles to the south-east, falls into oo aes
10 the Chinab. An inscription on one of the gateways records that Bokh. 1. 300.
11 it was built by the Mogul emperor, Akbar. Naushera is in lat.
12 33° 6’, long. 74° 15’.
