8 built, in a pleasant site, amidst groves and crops of grain and sos. :
9 cotton. Provisions may be had in moderate quantities; honey is
10 remarkably abundant and excellent. Good water is obtained from
11 wells of a great depth. The population, about 2,000 persons,
12 contribute annually four thousand rupees to the revenue of the
13 Jam of Lus. Pottinger describes the people at the time of his
14 visit as ‘‘ very contented and happy. They,have immense flocks
15 of sheep and goats, besides herds of black cattle and camels.”
