2 for the evils attendant upon the existence of such classes, Regulations
3 have been established which have been found to diminish to a considera-
4 ble extent the irregularities attendant on their presence.
5 13]. The Naiks of the Lumbanies, and the head men of the other
6 two classes throughout this Country, have been obliged to furnish good
7 and reliable security for the future good conduct of their tandas in the
8 case of the former, and of those under their immediate control in the
9 case of the latter.
10 132. The different classes are considered to be permanently under
11 the surveillance of the District Police, and all their movements or
12 changes of abode are watched, noted, and reported.
13 133. A Register showing the name and dwelling-place of each indi-
14 vidual of the different tribes is kept up in each Talook Cutcherry, copies
15 of which are forwarded regularly to the Superintendent of the Divisions.
16 134. Tn Civil Cases for contempt of Court, and in Criminal Cases for.
17 petty or other offences, for which imprisonment in
18 the Common Jail would scarcely be a suitable punish-
19 ment, Courts have power to fine to the following extent :—

22 Amils and Mysore Town Moonsiff, not above 7
23 Bangalore Tewn Moonsiff,........ ditto 10

26 The Huzoor Adawlut, in any sum it may deem correct, subject to the
27 approval of the Commissioner.
28 135. On the Ist November 1855, there were before the Commissioner
29 State of the File in ten Civil and three Criminal Cases remaining unde-
30 - Commissioner's and cided; and before the Huzoor Adawlut twelve Civil
31 Adawlut Courts, fee ale . :
32 Cases and no Criminal Cases pending. At that time
33 likewise there were no Original Cases that had been transferred to the
34 Court by the Commissioner.
