Out of a total quantity of maunds 2,25,000, which the State
of Jodhpur is entitled to receive annually free of duty, it
received this year maunds 2.03408, allowing maunds 21,592 to
lapse. Last year, that is in 1892-93, it took maunds 2,7.06],
and maunds 17,939 lapsed. During both years conditions were
very favourable for the transport of produce in Marwar, and the
result is seen in the much larger issues of salt for internal
consumption than in the two previous years, when the lapses
were very large, viz, maunds 78,904 in 1890-91 and maunds
75,813 in 1891-92. So far as can be ascertained, none of the
duty iree salt issued for consumption in Marwar is allowed to
cross the border into other Native States. This matter is con-
stantly kept in view.
Besides Jodhpur, the State of Rampur is the only other
State which receives sult free of duty on payment of the price
only. It is entitled to maunds 6,000 annually, and drew maunds
5,000 in 1893-94.
The total annual issue of salt, free both of price and duty,
authorized by the salt agreements, is maunds 34.710. In 1892-
93 only maunds 17,410 were drawn, leaving an undrawn
balance of 17,300 maunds. During the year -under report the
total amount drawn is maunds 37,610. The Durbdrs of Alwar,
Bhartpur, Kerowli, and Kotah have left their allowances for
the year undrawn, and Jodhpur has only drawn maunds 12,250
out of the maunds 14,000 allowed from Sambhar. The Dur-
bars of Dholepur, Kishengarh and Udeypur and the Thakur of
Lawa have drawn their authorized allowances, and the Marwar
Durbar has drawn the annual amount allowed to be supplied
from the Pachbadra salt source. The Jeypur Durbir has
drawn in 1893-94 the allowance of two years, viz., maunds 7,000
for that year and another 7,000 maunds, being the arrears due
for 1392-93,
