The largest increases have taken place in Eastern Rdéjputana,
in and around Ajmere, in the tract between Bandikui and Delhi,
and around Delhi, in the districts around Agra, between Achne-
ra and Cawnpore through the Etah and Farukhabad districts,
in the south-east Punjab, that is, in the Karnal and the neigh-
bouring districts, and in Rohilkhand. Indeed the abstract
shows that, on the whole, the area within which Sambhar is the
chief kind of salt consumed was well supplied during the year
with this description of salt. For the three years preceding
1895-96 the average was maunds 37,88,590, while for 1895-96
the supply amounted to maunds 38,41,973, or more by maunds
53,383 than the three years’ average. ‘The following statement,
which has been carefully compiled by the Assistant Commissioner
of Sambhar, shows the territorial distribution of Sambhar salt
by railway from 1892-93 to 1895-96 :~
1892-93. . 1893-94. 1894-95. 1895-96.
