charges, Rs. 5,740 ; cost of new wheels and new trucks, Rs. 2,200,
The lining of the tunnel known as Thompson’s tunnel with
masonry sides and log roof was a dangerous piece of work, re-
quiring constaht supervision and great care, and the Assistant
Commissioner states that it was owing to the exertions of
Mr. Money, the Mine Superintendent, that the work was carried
through and completed satisfactorily and without accident.
The fresh-water channel and protective works in the Khewra
gorge cost more than in 1892-93 by Rs. 1,414 owing to heavy
floods and a rather bad landslip that occurred’ in the gorge
during the past rainy season. Myr. Bolster, the Assistant Com-
missioner of the Division, deserves great credit for the prompt
and efficient way in which he dealt with these interruptions.
