The decrease in the issues at Mandi will be explained fur-
ther on in a paragraph dealing with the Mandi Salt Mines.
The decrease at Kohat was very large, and was due to excep-
tionally heavy sales during 1895-96, owing to speculators, as
well as traders and carriers, having discovered in that year
that the rate of duty at the Kohat Salt Mines was about to be ©
enhanced.
