REVIEW BYSECTIONS. year; (2) of Rs. 785 in connection with clerks, owing to men of
SAMBHAR.
Manufacture and sales,
higher grades having drawn pay in the Division, and (3) of
Rs. 1,773 onaccount of compensation for dearness of food-grains
paid to the subordinate establishment entitled to it under the
rules. On the other hand, there was a decrease, (1) of
Rs, 1,191 on account of exchange compensation allowance ; (2)
of Rs. 11,840 owing to Superintendents and Assistant Superin-
tendents of lower grades having been posted to the Division
during the year ; (3) of Rs. 2,969 in connection with a saving
under temporary establishment, and (4) of Rs. 94 in the leave
allowances of the subordinate establishment.
Under contingencies there was a decrease of Rs. 18,114,
and the following comparative classifications of the charges of
the past two years will indicate the heads under which the
difference occurred :—

Total ae | 2,21,471 | 2,038,857 20,648 88,762
In connection with manufacture, the decrease in expenditure
is owing to a smaller quantity of salt having been produced.
The falling off under the item of travelling allowance, &c., is
due to no officers having been sent on deputation to Native
States during the year. The decrease in connection with the
repair and construction of buildings has resulted from a post-
ponement of building work. The increase under the head of
through traffic charges is owing partly to the cost of construc-
tion of a godown at Sambhar for: bags belonging to through
traffic traders, and partly to the cost of clearing a larger quan-
tity of through traffic salt than during 1895-96. The small
decrease of Rs. 190 under petty items does not call for expla-
nation.
After deducting charges, the net revenue of the Division
amounted to Rs, 1,04,92,110 compared with Rs. 98,80,929
during 1895-96, or an increase of Rs. 6,11,181. .
