Exclusive of treaty payments, the total receipts exceed the
total charges by Rs. 1,89,29,330; and if treaty payments are
included, the result is still a net credit balance of Rs. 36,81,701,
or more than in the previous year by Rs. 4,79,951. The
estimated balance of stock shown in the statement, which in
1892-93 amounted to only maunds 2,82,125, has increased,
moreover, to maunds 18,66,903.
47. The following statement shows the gross realizations, the
fixed and contingent charges, and the net revenue of the Did-
wana salt source for the past and three preceding years :—

The gross realizations, which have been declining since
the price of Sambhar salt was reduced to 2? annas a maund in
January 1891, have this year once more very largely increased
owing to the price of Sambhar having been raised by stress of
circumstances, first to 54 annas, and ultimately to 8 annasa
maund during the year. This gave a great stimulus to the
trade at this source, and increased the sales of duty-paid Did-
wana salt from maunds 1,78,423 to maunds 4,57,191, or by
maunds 2,79,068; so that the gross realizations this year exceed
those of the previous year by Rs. 7,014,220, or by 149-49 per
cent. Excise duty receipts have increased by Rs. 6,97,670 and
sale price realizations by Rs. 6,409. There is an increase of
Rs. 141 in the miscellancous collections owing to the imposition
more frequently of fines for careless preliminary weighments.
