2. The actual results of the year as compared with the reeular esti-
mate are considered by the Lieutenant-Governor to be satisfactory, inas-
much as they show an increase in ‘Receipts’ and a decrease in “ Ex-
penditure,” viz. :-—
DIFFERENCE.

The “Income” has thus been nearly 30 per cent. above the regular
estimate, whilst the actual expenditure was about 3 per cent. less than
anticipated.
8. Comparing these figures, however, with those of the Budget Esti-
mate for 1871-72, the following results are arrived at:—
Budget Estimate Regular Fatimate,
1871-72.
1871-72 Actuals, 1871-72.

Surplus oe 1,60,000 | ea 62,865
From which it will be observed that the Budget Estimate for the year was
not a good forecast of actual operations, for even the favourable results over
the Regular Estimate were only obtained by the book transfer by the
Controller of State Railway Accounts of Rs. 3,01,926-11-0 for Sleepers
delivered by the Forest Department. Had it not been for this timely
addition, the actual “ Receipts” would have been Rs. 68,792 below the
regular, and Rs. 5,38,792 below the Budget Estimate for the year.
4. Sleeper operations——From the Jounsar Forest Division, the fol-
lowing number and description of Sleepers were supplied to the Rajpoo-
tana State Railway during the year 1871-72, viz. ——

whilst from the Bhageerutte Division the number and description delivered
was as follows :—

Of the 230,565 Sleepers delivered at Agra, the scantlings were—
147,500, 6’ 8” X 4" =147,500 Sleepers.
