36 INSPECTION OF FORESTS.

38 8. In this district there was no special inspection of forests, as this
39 work had been done during former years, and all forests in Sikkime the
40 property of Government have been included in, and notified as ‘ Reserves.”
41 [Lhose in Bhutan have beon all inspected, and the western portion more or
42 less traversed durihg the yoar by the Assistant Conservator, whose active
43 habits carry him over every part 0 his division. A short description of each
44 tract in Sikkim and the Western Dooars, as given by the Assistant Conservator
45 in his report, is given as an appendix.
46 9, In Bhitan the forests have just lately been gazetted as open Govern-
47 ment forests, and from them special tracts will be
48 selected as ‘‘ Reserves.” It is proposed to com-
49 mence the regular detailed inspection and surveys
50 in the Moraghat tract next season if a competent and experienced officer can be
51 placed in charge of the division, there being only a Sub-Assistant in charge at
52 present.
