5. In Oudh, the additional area of forests has been obtained
by the completion of the line of demarcation between the Govern-
ment forests at Gonda, and the forests assigned to the Maharaja
of Balrampur, and by demarcation in the first and second
sub-divisions of the Bharaich Forests.
6. In the Central Provinces, the State forests have been
increased by taking up and reserving the following new areas :—
Moharli forest, estimated area, 150 square miles; Pandratola,
reserve, arca about 72 square miles; Nanipura forest, 114 square
miles; Rangir forest, 143 square miles; IHuthku forests, 31}
square miles. Regarding these tracts of forest lands the Con-
servator of the Central Provinces writes as follows:— _
‘‘The prospective mining operations in the vicinity of Ghugus and
Schesti forest Warora, in the Chanda District, necessitated action
being taken to secure the maintenance of an
adequate supply of pit-wood, and it was ‘accordingly determined to take up
the tract known as the Moharli forest, situated to the east of Warora, in the
Chanda District. It is easy of access, and the farther portion of it is only
30 miles from the last-mentioned town. Owing to the departure of Mr.
Davidson before he had completed his detailed examination of thie tract, full
information regarding ite timber-bearing capabilities is not at present available,
