4 Notification declaring Laws tn force and providing for Executive, Judicial and
5 Police administratiog. ;
6 No. 4167-I., dated the 9th December, 1890.—Whereas His Highness the Mfhérdjé of Patiala
7 and the Chief of Kalsia have granted to the British Government full jurisdiction within thé lands
8 which lie within their he ‘late States, and are ocoupied, or may be hereafter occupied, by the
9 Delhi-Umballa-Kalka Railway (including the lands occupied by stations, by out-buildings, and for
10 other Railway purposes): In exercise of this Jurisdiction, and of the powers conferred oe sections
11 4 and 6 of the Foreign Jurisdiction and Extradition Act, 1879, and of all other powers enabling
12 him in this behalf, the Governor General in Council is pleased to issue the following orders :-=—
13 1, All laws for the time being in force in the Umballa District of the Panjab shall be deemed
14 to be in force in the aforesaid lands.
15 2. The Deputy Commissioner of the Umballa District, the Commissioner of the Delhi Division,
16 the Financial Commissioners of the Panjab, and the Lieutenant-Governor of the
17 Panjab and its Dependencies, for the time being, shall respectively have within the
18 aforesaid lands the same executive powers as they may, reapectively, exercise within
19 the British territories subject to their administration.
20 8, British Courts having jurisdiction within the Umballa District may exercise within the
21 arate lands the jurisdiction which they, respectively, exercise within the said
22 istrict.
23 4. Within the aforesaid lands the administration of the Police shall be vested in the Assistant
24 Inspector-General of Railway Police, or such other officer as the said Lieutenant-
25 Governor may appoint, by name or in virtue of his office, in that behalf. The
26 Assistant Inspector General or other officer aforesaid shall have the same police pe
27 as may be exercised by the District Superintendent of Police, under any law for the
28 time being in force, mm the Umballa District, in subordination to the Deputy Commis-
29 sioner of the Umballa District and the Inspector-General of Police in the Panjab.
