5 Notification declaring Laws ip foree, and providing for Erecutine, Judicial and
6 ‘ Police admtutstration.
7 No. 1508-I., dated the 7th May, 1886.—Whereas His Highness the Mahdréjé of Patiala, His
8 Highness the R4j4 of Nabha, and His Highness the K4jé of Kapurthala have ceded to the British Gov-
9 ernment full jurisdiction within the lands which lie within their respective States and are occupied
10 by the North-Western Railway, till lately called the Sindh, Panjab and Delhi Railway (including
11 the lands occupied as stations, out-buildings, and for other purposes connected with the Railway
12 within their territories): In exercise of this jurisdiction, and of the powers conferred by rections 4
13 and 6 of the Foreign Jurisdiction and Extiadition Act, 1879, and of all other powers enabling him
14 in this behalf, the Governor General in Council is pleased to issue the following Notification :-—
15 1.—(1) The provisions, so far as they may be applicable, of all Jaws for the time being in force
16 in the Ludhiana District of the Panjab are hereby extended to the portion of the aforesaid lands
17 which lie in the Pail tahsil of the Patiala State.
18 (2) The Deputy Commissioner of the Ludhiana District and the Commissioner of the Jullunder
19 Division, for the time being, shall have within this portion of the aforesaid lands the same exe-
20 cutive powers as they have respectively within the British territories subject to their adwinistra-
21 tion,
22 (3) All British Courts having jurisdiction within the Ludhiana District shall have within this
23 portion of the aforesaid lands the jurisdiction which they have, respectively, within the said dis-
24 trict.
25 II.—(1) The provisions, as far as they may be applicable, of all Jaws for the time being in
26 force in the Umbualla District of the Panjab are hereby extended to the portion of the aforesaid
27 pads which lie in the Nabha State or in any sub-division of the Patiala State other than the Pail
28 tahsil.
29 (2) The Deputy Commissioner of the Umballa District and the Commissioner of the Delhi
30 Division, for the time being, shal] have within these portions of the aforesaid lands the same exe=
31 cutive powers as they have, respectively, within the British territories subject to their administra-
32 tion.
33 (3) All British Courts having jurisdiction within the Umballa District shall have within these
34 rtions of the aforesaid lands the jurisdiction which they have, respectively, within the said dis-
35 riot.
36 IIT. (7) The provisions, so far as they may be applicable, of all laws for the time being in
37 foroe in the Jullunder District of the Panjab are hereby extended to the portion of the aforesaid
38 lands which Jie in the Kapuithala State.
39 (2) The Deputy Comwmissioner of the Jullunder Di«trict and the Commissioner of the Jullunder
40 Division, for the time being, shall have within this portion of the aforesaid lands the same exe-
41 cutive powers as they have, respectively, within the British territories subject to their admuinistra-
42 tion,
43 (3) All British Courts having jurisdiction within the Jullunder District shal] have within this
44 ieee of the aforesaid lands the jurisdiction which they have, respeotively, within the said
45 istrict.
46 IV.—The Financial Commissioner of the Panjab and the Lieutenant-Governor of the Parijab
47 and its Dependencies, for the time being, shall have within all the aforesaid lands the same
48 executive powers as they have, respectively, within the British territories subject to their adminis-
49 tration. ‘
50 V.— Within all the aforesaid lands the administration of the Police shall be vested in the
51 Assistant Inspector-General of Railway Police, or such other officer or officers as the said
52 Lieutenant-Governor may appoint, by name or in virtue of office, in that behalf; and the Assistant
53 Inepector-General or other officer or officers as aforesaid shall have within the several portions of
54 the said lands, in subordination to the Deputy Commissioner having jurisdiction therein, and
55 to the Inspector-General of Police of the Panjab, all the powers which the District Superintendent
56 of zee han for the time being in the Ludhiana, Umballa, or Jullunder District, as the case
57 may de.
