7 In the latter end of the reign of Furokshere, about
8 the year of the Hijera 1130, Bunda wishing to
9 possess the country of the Punjab, resorted thither,
10 in company with the Sikhs, who had gone to fetch
11 him.
12 When he reached Mulu Kotilah, Bunda found
13 there his grandson, named Atrna Ram, a Byragee
14 fukeer, whom he. wished to accompany him; but.
15 Atma refused, adding, ‘ f I am a wandering fukeer,
16 and not used to bloodshed and fighting. A ou
17 will never he a king, and will lose your life.”
18 Bunda took no notice of this warning, and next
19 day departed with his followers for Sirhind, which,
20 as the scene of the murder of Govind’s two sons,
21 he was determined to destroy. On reaching the Bums snwwi.
22 place Bunda set fire to the city, and murdered all
23 the inhabitants, neither age nor sex was spared;
24 every one was slaughtered indiscriminately, to
25 avenge the murder of Govind’s sons ; and the city
26 was razed to the ground/*
27 Bupda then crossed the Sutlej and employed crones the
28 fire and sword wherever he went. No place es¬
29 caped, and none could oppose his progress; he
30 pillaged every where. The inhabitants of the
