17 MAIMOODDA, in Bhawlpoor, situate on the left bank of: the
18 river Ghara. Lat. 30°, long. 72° 48’.
19 MAIMUND, in Western Afghanistan, a small town near the
20 route from Herat to Kandahar, and thirty-four miles west of the
21 latter place. It is situate at the opening into a well-cultivated
22 valley, inclosed by eminences of moderate height. Lat. 31° 42’,
23 long. 64° 51’.
24 MAJGURRA, in Afghanistan, a village on the route from
25 Dera Ismael Khan to Ghuznee, by the Golairee Pass, and twenty-
26 nine miles north-west of Dera Ismael Khan. It is situate at the
27 foot of a pass across the Suliman mountains, through which the
28 road is difficult to within'a short distance of the village. There
29 is water from a subterraneous aqueduct. Lat. 32° 2’, long.

31 MAJINDA,! in Sinde, a town on the route from Hyderabad
32 to Sehwan, and forty-five miles south-east of the latter place.
33 It is situate two miles from the right or western bank of the
34 Indus, in an alluvial plain, but indifferently cultivated. Its popu-
35 lation is 2,000. Majinda? has an extensive bazaar and a good
36 supply of water. The road in this part of the route is good. Lat.
37 25° 51’, long. 68° 19’.
38 MAJU, in Sinde, a village situate on the route from Tattah
39 to Sehwan, near the right bank of the Indus, and sixty miles
40 north of the former town. Lat. 25° 33’, long. 68° 20’.
41 MAKAM, in Afghanistan, a halting-place on the route from
42 Kandahar to Shawl, and sixty miles south-east of the former
43 town, in lat. 31° 5’, long. 66° 5’.

45 MALEEA, in the Punjab, a village situate on the route from
46 Ramnuggur to Ferozpoor, and a hundred and twenty miles

49 of the town of Baramula,:in lat. 34° 20’, long. 73° 59’.
50 MALEKRA, in the north-east of the Punjab, a town in the
51 southern range of the Himalaya, and close to the celebrated fort
52 Kot Kangra. Here is an idol called Bawun, an object of great
53 veneration to the superstitious Hindoos. It is without its head,
54 which is supposed to be at Jewala Muki, and to breathe forth
