15 some places, however, it is covered with loose sandhills. The
16 town consists of several dwelling-houses and a few shops, de-
17 fended by a small brick-built fort. There is a good supply of
18 water from wells, to which the cattle from a large tract of the
19 surrounding desert have recourse. Meergurh is in lat. 29° 10’,

33 the banks of the Murraie, a torrent which often ceases to flow;
34 but water can at all times be obtained by digging in its sandy
