6 Sambhar salt. During April and May the Government price
7 charged at the lake was 8 annas a maund. In June this rate
8 was reduced to 4 annasa maund, The Cawnpore market at once
9 responded to the reduction-Didwana salt at once disappeared,
10 ultimately so did Baragara and Pachbadra, and by September
11 the only other competing salts left were Sulténpuri and rock
12 salt, the former of which had to accommodate itself to the fall s
13 in the price of Sambhar in June :—~

36 45. The next statement shows for each year’s salt that sro of clearances of
37 was sold the excesses and deficits in the store heaps cleared cn
38 during the year. A total of 118 heaps was cleared, 64 of the year
39 1898- 94 and 54 of 1894-95. The total estimated contents were
40 maunds 35,39,480, and the actual outturn amounted to maunds
41 35,79,119. The net excess was maunds 39,639 or 112 per
42 cent. This result is once more highly creditable to the Assis-
43 ant Commissioner of the Division and the officers concerned :—
