16 The quantity of salt issued and expended is more by 21.
17 maunds than in 1893-94, the soap produced is more by maunds
18 1,499. Refunds to the amount of Rs. 1,614-6-0 were paid
19 ‘during the year against Rs, 1,647-10-0 so paid in the year before.
20 During the entire period of four years maunds 37,873 of soap
21 were produced, and the total quantity of salt utilized was
22 maunds 2,739. Refunds were actually paid on maunds 2,713 of
23 salt to the amount of Rs. 6,783. The premises were visited
24 and the books inspected once a quarter by the Superintendent
25 of the Agra Circle, and twice during the year by the Assistant
26 Commissioner, Mr, Ashton, who reports that the arrangements
27 in the factory for the safe custody of the salt and its use only
28 for the purpose allowed by Government continued to be very
29 efficient.
30 73. The accompanying statement, which is inserted at the
31 request of the Government of Bengal, shows the quantity
32 of salt excised by the Northern India Salt Department, which-
33 was sent by railway into the Lower Provinces of Bengal during
34 the past three years :—
