10 crease may reasonably be held to have been for consumption
11 in the Hazara district north of Abbottabad, out of which tract
12 Kohat salt has been kept by the ‘activity of the Preventive es-
13 tablishment posted between Kirplian on the Indus and
14 Jalgullee north of Oghi.
15 The quantity of rock salt sent to Sindh, that is, consigned
16 ‘direct to Sukkar (maunds 10,904), is somewhat less than that
17 so booked in the preceding year (maunds 11,373). The. con-
18 signments to Quetta have increased from 435 maunds in 1892-
19 93 to maunds 1,206 in the year just ended.
20 The quantity of salt that was faroded or: warehoused for
21 . retail consumption in the villages in the salt range and within
22 the protected area around the salt range was maunds 19,239
23 in 1893-94 against maunds 18,853 in 1892-93 and maunds
24 18,748 in 1891-92. The population which procures furoded
25 or warehoused salt under the rules for the protection of the
26 salt outcrops and the salt revenue numbers 291,852, and re-
27 sides in 222 villages and small towns, The increase in the
28 consumption of the salt thus sold is satisfactory.
